GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ENTERING
1. ALL WORK MUST BE NEW SINCE AUGUST 2019 AND IN NEW CONDITION, free of heavy smells like Smoke, Mildew, Heavy Fabric Softeners or Pets and free of Pet Hair
2. THIS YEAR. Fill in your own entry form by going to the AssistExpo.ca link on our web site at www.peterboroughag.ca. After the cut off date, changes can only be made through the office. If you have any questions or inquiries please email Sandra Busby at s2.busbyex@gmail.com or Kathy Clodd at kathyclodd@gmail.com.
3. All classes will use the entry form provided and forward it to the Exhibition Office by FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2022. Exhibitors must pick up their entry tags at the Exhibition Office on or before Wednesday, August 3rd, or when the entry form is submitted in person. See “How to” information.To pick up entry tags please email Sandra Busby at s2.busbyex@gmail.com.
4. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE entry per section in all classes. For example, if a class has 10 sections, you are allowed one entry in each of the 10 sections.
5. The Homecraft Committee will be accepting entries in the MORROW BUILDINGon Wednesday, August 3rd From 6 to 8 P.M. and on Thursday, August 5TH, from 8 to 10 A.M. Judging will begin promptly at 10:00. LATE ENTRIES CAN NOT BE ACCEPTED. EXHIBITS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING WHICH COMMENCES AT 10 A.M.Only judges and Homecraft Committee members and helpers are allowed in the area during the entire judging process. **All others will be asked to leave.**
6. The Homecraft Committee reserves the right to open all entry tags after judging has been completed.
7. ALL EXHIBITS WILL REMAIN IN THE MORROW BUILDING UNTIL SUNDAY AUGUST 7th UNTIL THE PICK UP TIME. Failure to comply with this rule may result in forfeiture of prize money. ENTRIES WILL BE PICKED UP DURING THE TIME NOTED ON THE IDENTIFICATION CARD WHICH MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE YOUR EXHIBITS.
8. When the judge feels no entry is worthy of a first prize, another prize may be awarded. The judge’s decision is final.
9. Lack of space may make it necessary to display prize-winning entries only.
10. While the Society will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of all entries, EXHIBITS ARE PLACED AT THE OWNER’S RISK. We are not responsible for exhibits left after closing time on the final day of the Exhibition but any remaining exhibits will be kept at the Office until August 31 after which they will be either discarded or given to a charity of our choice.
11. Each Exhibitor must comply with, and shall be bound by, the rules and regulations respecting the class or section in which he or she is exhibiting, as set out in this Prize List.
12. Exhibitors must become a member of the Peterborough Agricultural Society. Membership for 2022 is $3.
13. In the case of an error made in the totalling of Prize money, a complaint must be registered in writing within fourteen (14) days of receiving the cash or cheque.
14. In the event that receipts are insufficient to cover the full amount of prizes, the Society reserves the right to pay on a percentage basis.
15. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor or with limited help if the exhibitor is a child.
16. Exhibits are not available for purchase during the Exhibition.
17. An Entry Fee of 10% will be deducted from prize winnings unless winnings are under $2.
Prize winners’ cheques must be cashed within 60 days of the date on the cheque.
If a question arises which is not answered in the rules and regulations, please contact the Director of the Class involved. All protests must be submitted in writing and will be investigated by the Committee in charge of the Class in which the protest is entered. They will report to the Homecraft Directors at a regularly called meeting. The decision of the Board will be final and will be binding upon the parties of such protest.

DEFINITIONS:
ARTICLE: The description of the item to be entered, e.g. Colouring book picture, completed. Please use the exact wording in the Prize List.
CLASS: The class is the title at the beginning of each division, e.g. Junior Printing and Writing is JA
SECTION: The section is the number in front of the article, e.g. 2
A. Entry Form
· It can be obtained at the Exhibition Office by appointment, or on our web site at www.peterboroughex.ca.
· The form lists all items to be entered and must be submitted to the Exhibition Office by Friday July 29, 2022. It is recommended that you keep a duplicate list for pick up.
B. Entry Tags
· Tags are available at the Exhibition Office by appointment.
· One tag is needed for each item.
· Please PRINT legibly in black or blue ink. Only include your name and the name of your home town. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR ADDRESS. Attach each tag securely to its item. You may use safety pins, tape, string, etc. as needed but NO STRAIGHT PINS, please.
JUNIOR DIVISION

RULES AND REGULATIONS Please read carefully.
1. Boys and girls 18 years of age and under as of August 1, 2022 are eligible to participate in the Junior Division of the Peterborough Exhibition.
2. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE entry per section. For example, if a class has 10 sections you could have one entry in each of the 10 sections.
3. Junior exhibitors MUST present their identification card to the Director in charge before picking up their exhibits.
4. Additional rules for Garden Show” are included in the Garden Section.
5. Entry forms must be received at the Office by Friday July 29th, 2022.
6. District Competition: The winner from each Fair/Exhibition will be eligible to compete in the District Competition and the winner of the District Competition will be eligible to compete in the Provincial Competition. District entry must consist of 6 cookies displayed on a clean, sturdy plate (no paper plates please) inside of a clear plastic bag with the exhibitor's name and address using the entry tag provided. Must be plain Chocolate Chip Cookies,with no nuts and no larger than 3 inches or 6.75 cm and no smaller than 2 inches or 5 cm. Prize money to be paid by the District.
Provincial Competition: The entrant must be the winner from the District Competition. In the case where the District winner is unable to send an entry to the Convention, then the 2nd place winner from the District will be eligible to enter. The entry for the District must consist of 8 cookies displayed on a clean, sturdy plate (no paper plates) inside a clear plastic bag with the exhibitor's name, address and district represented using the entry tag provided. Plain Chocolate Chip Cookies with no nuts are to be no larger than 3 inches or 6.75 cm and no smaller than 2 inches or 5 cm.

Exhibits are placed in classes at the owner’s risk. Containers and accessories must be clearly marked on the bottom with name and address of the exhibitor.
All exhibits will be grown and displayed by the child entering. Children must place their own exhibits on display tables but may be accompanied by parent(s) who are prohibited from interfering with the child’s entry.
The committee reserves the right to remove dead flowers.

9. Lack of space may make it necessary to display prize-winning entries only.
10. While the Agricultural Society will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of all entries, EXHIBITS ARE PLACED AT THE OWNER’S RISK. We are not responsible for exhibits left after closing time on the final day of the Exhibition but any remaining exhibits will be kept at the Office until August 31 after which they will be either discarded or given to a charity of our choice.
11. Each Exhibitor must comply with, and shall be bound by, the rules and regulations respecting the class or section in which he or she is exhibiting, as set out in this Prize List.
12. Exhibitors are required to have a membership to compete. Memberships for 2022 are $3
13. In the case of an error made in the totalling of Prize money, a complaint must be registered in writing within fourteen (14) days of receiving the cash or cheque.
16. In the event that receipts are insufficient to cover the full amount of prizes, the Society reserves the right to pay on a percentage basis.
16. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor or with limited help if the exhibitor is a child.
17. Exhibits are not available for purchase during the Exhibition.
18. Exhibitors under the age of 18 years may compete in the Adult Classes, but must follow the Adult Rules and Regulations.
Prize winners’ cheques must be cashed within 60 daysof the date on the cheque.
If a question arises which is not answered in the rules and regulations, please contact the Director of the Class involved. All protests must be submitted in writing and will be investigated by the Committee in charge of the Department in which the protest is entered. They will report to the Homecraft Directors at a regularly called meeting. The decision of the Board will be final and will be binding upon the parties of such protest.

Fair/Exhibition Competition:

DISTRICT COMPETITION:

GENERAL CONDITIONS – Please read carefully.
NEW WORK, which may be shown in two consecutive years, must be hand quilted except where specifically noted. The quilt may be a single bed size or larger. The entry tag and anything that is attached to the quilt must be done with safety pins. No straight pins.
ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES (OAAS) QUILT COMPETITIONS
If you wish your Hand OR Machine quilt to qualify for the OAAS Quilt Competition, it must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter. Note that the article can be square, rectangular, etc. The name of the quilt pattern and the name of the designer, if the pattern was purchased, must be written on the tag that is attached to the quilt. The Grand Champion quilts chosen from the winners of Sections 1, 2 and 13 are eligible to compete at the District 4 competition in late October. The first prize winner from another fair is not eligible.
A. Entries must be solely made and hand or machine quilted by an individual and exhibited and judged at a local OAAS Fair to be eligible for this competition.
B. Qualified quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter. Smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition.
C. Judging will occur first at local fairs and then at district level meeting. A Provincial Grand Champion quilt will be selected at the Annual Convention of the OAAS.
D. Upon making entry into the OAAS Hand or Machine Quilt Competition, the exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
E. The winning OAAS Champion Hand or Machine Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future District and/or Convention OAAS competitions.
F. The winner’s name will be displayed at the Exhibition on a sign provided by the OAAS.

The exhibitor’s name and address, together with the class and section in which the exhibit is to be entered, is to be printed on the back of each exhibit. Any identifying signature or trademark on the front of the exhibit must be covered before being entered. No exhibits are to be entered in more than one class. All exhibits must be taken by the exhibitor and not have been previously exhibited at the Peterborough Exhibition. Frames are not permitted. Exhibits are to be suitably mounted on material BLACK CARD STOCK OR BRISTOL BOARD in order to be held in place with push pins or they will be disqualified. Black and white photographs should have a glossy finish for more impact. Each entry must have an entry tag attached directly to the mounting prior to arrival at the designated building. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ENTERING
1. ALL WORK MUST BE NEW SINCE AUGUST 2019 AND IN NEW CONDITION, free of heavy smells like Smoke, Mildew, Heavy Fabric Softeners or Pets and free of Pet Hair
2. THIS YEAR. Fill in your own entry form by going to the AssistExpo.ca link on our web site at www.peterboroughag.ca. After the cut off date, changes can only be made through the office. If you have any questions or inquiries please email Sandra Busby at s2.busbyex@gmail.com or Kathy Clodd at kathyclodd@gmail.com.
3. All classes will use the entry form provided and forward it to the Exhibition Office by FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2022. Exhibitors must pick up their entry tags at the Exhibition Office on or before Wednesday, August 3rd, or when the entry form is submitted in person. See “How to” information.To pick up entry tags please email Sandra Busby at s2.busbyex@gmail.com.
4. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE entry per section in all classes. For example, if a class has 10 sections, you are allowed one entry in each of the 10 sections.
5. The Homecraft Committee will be accepting entries in the MORROW BUILDING on Wednesday, August 3rd From 6 to 8 P.M. and on Thursday, August 5TH, from 8 to 10 A.M. Judging will begin promptly at 10:00. LATE ENTRIES CAN NOT BE ACCEPTED. EXHIBITS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING WHICH COMMENCES AT 10 A.M.Only judges and Homecraft Committee members and helpers are allowed in the area during the entire judging process. **All others will be asked to leave.**
6. The Homecraft Committee reserves the right to open all entry tags after judging has been completed.
7. ALL EXHIBITS WILL REMAIN IN THE MORROW BUILDING UNTIL SUNDAY AUGUST 7th UNTIL THE PICK UP TIME. Failure to comply with this rule may result in forfeiture of prize money. ENTRIES WILL BE PICKED UP DURING THE TIME NOTED ON THE IDENTIFICATION CARD WHICH MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE YOUR EXHIBITS.
8. When the judge feels no entry is worthy of a first prize, another prize may be awarded. The judge’s decision is final.
9. Lack of space may make it necessary to display prize-winning entries only.
10. While the Society will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of all entries, EXHIBITS ARE PLACED AT THE OWNER’S RISK. We are not responsible for exhibits left after closing time on the final day of the Exhibition but any remaining exhibits will be kept at the Office until August 31 after which they will be either discarded or given to a charity of our choice.
11. Each Exhibitor must comply with, and shall be bound by, the rules and regulations respecting the class or section in which he or she is exhibiting, as set out in this Prize List.
12. Exhibitors must become a member of the Peterborough Agricultural Society. Membership for 2022 is $3.
13. In the case of an error made in the totalling of Prize money, a complaint must be registered in writing within fourteen (14) days of receiving the cash or cheque.
14. In the event that receipts are insufficient to cover the full amount of prizes, the Society reserves the right to pay on a percentage basis.
15. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor or with limited help if the exhibitor is a child.
16. Exhibits are not available for purchase during the Exhibition.
17. An Entry Fee of 10% will be deducted from prize winnings unless winnings are under $2.
Prize winners’ cheques must be cashed within 60 days of the date on the cheque.
If a question arises which is not answered in the rules and regulations, please contact the Director of the Class involved. All protests must be submitted in writing and will be investigated by the Committee in charge of the Class in which the protest is entered. They will report to the Homecraft Directors at a regularly called meeting. The decision of the Board will be final and will be binding upon the parties of such protest.

DEFINITIONS:
ARTICLE: The description of the item to be entered, e.g. Colouring book picture, completed. Please use the exact wording in the Prize List.
CLASS: The class is the title at the beginning of each division, e.g. Junior Printing and Writing is JA
SECTION: The section is the number in front of the article, e.g. 2
A. Entry Form
· It can be obtained at the Exhibition Office by appointment, or on our web site at www.peterboroughex.ca.
· The form lists all items to be entered and must be submitted to the Exhibition Office by Friday July 29, 2022. It is recommended that you keep a duplicate list for pick up.
B. Entry Tags
· Tags are available at the Exhibition Office by appointment.
· One tag is needed for each item.
· Please PRINT legibly in black or blue ink. Only include your name and the name of your home town. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR ADDRESS. Attach each tag securely to its item. You may use safety pins, tape, string, etc. as needed but NO STRAIGHT PINS, please.
JUNIOR DIVISION

RULES AND REGULATIONS Please read carefully.
1. Boys and girls 18 years of age and under as of August 1, 2022 are eligible to participate in the Junior Division of the Peterborough Exhibition.
2. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE entry per section. For example, if a class has 10 sections you could have one entry in each of the 10 sections.
3. Junior exhibitors MUST present their identification card to the Director in charge before picking up their exhibits.
4. Additional rules for Garden Show” are included in the Garden Section.
5. Entry forms must be received at the Office by Friday July 29th, 2022.
6. District Competition: The winner from each Fair/Exhibition will be eligible to compete in the District Competition and the winner of the District Competition will be eligible to compete in the Provincial Competition. District entry must consist of 6 cookies displayed on a clean, sturdy plate (no paper plates please) inside of a clear plastic bag with the exhibitor's name and address using the entry tag provided. Must be plain Chocolate Chip Cookies,with no nuts and no larger than 3 inches or 6.75 cm and no smaller than 2 inches or 5 cm. Prize money to be paid by the District.
Provincial Competition: The entrant must be the winner from the District Competition. In the case where the District winner is unable to send an entry to the Convention, then the 2nd place winner from the District will be eligible to enter. The entry for the District must consist of 8 cookies displayed on a clean, sturdy plate (no paper plates) inside a clear plastic bag with the exhibitor's name, address and district represented using the entry tag provided. Plain Chocolate Chip Cookies with no nuts are to be no larger than 3 inches or 6.75 cm and no smaller than 2 inches or 5 cm.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ENTERING.
1. ALL WORK MUST BE NEW SINCE AUGUST 2019 AND IN NEW, CLEAN CONDITION, FREE OF HEAVY SMELLS LIKE SMOKE, HEAVY FABRIC SOFTENERS, MILDEW, PETS OR PET HAIR.
2. THIS YEAR. Fill in your own entry form by going to the AssistExpo.ca link on our web site at www.peterboroughag.ca. After the cut off date, changes can only be made through the office. If you have any questions please email Sandra Busby at s2.busbyex@gmail.com or Kathy Clodd at kathyclodd@gmail.com . To pick up an entry form or entry tags, please email Sandra Busby or Kathy Clodd at above email addresses to arrange at time to meet at the Exhibition Office. Remember that the Junior Division has its own form.
3. All classes will use the entry form provided and forward it to the Exhibition Office by FRIDAY July 29th, 2022. Exhibitors must pick up their entry tags at the Exhibition Office on or before Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 or when the entry form is submitted in person. “How to” information. PLEASE HAVE ALL ENTRY TAGS FILLED OUT AND ATTACHED TO ENTRIES BEFORE ENTRIES ARE DROPPED OFF IN THE MORROW BUILDING AUGUST 3RD OR 4TH.
4. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE entry per section in all classes. For example, if a class has 10 sections, you are allowed one entry in each of the 10 sections.
5. The Homecraft Committee will be in the MORROW BUILDING on Wednesday, August 3rd, from 6 PM to 8 PM and Thursday, August 4th from 8 to 10 AM, to receive exhibits for judging. LATE ENTRIES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED. EXHIBITS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING WHICH COMMENCES AT 10 AM. Only judges and Homecraft committee members and helpers are allowed in the area during the entire judging process. **All others will be asked to leave.**
6. The Homecraft Committee reserves the right to open all entry tags after judging has been completed.
7. ALL EXHIBITS WILL REMAIN IN THE MORROW BUIDLING UNTIL SUNDAY AUGUST 7TH, UNTIL THE PICK UP TIME. Failure to comply with this rule MAY result in forfeiture of prize money. ENTRIES WILL BE PICKED UP DURING THE TIME NOTED ON THE IDENTIFICATION CARD WHICH MUST BE SHOWN TO RECEIVE YOUR EXHIBITS.
8. When the judge feels no entry is worthy of a first prize, another prize may be awarded. The judge’s decision is final.
9. Lack of space may make it necessary to display prize-winning entries only.
10. While the Agricultural Society will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of all entries, EXHIBITS ARE PLACED AT THE OWNER’S RISK. We are not responsible for exhibits left after closing time on the final day of the Exhibition but any remaining exhibits will be kept at the Office until August 31 after which they will be either discarded or given to a charity of our choice.
11. Each Exhibitor must comply with, and shall be bound by, the rules and regulations respecting the class or section in which he or she is exhibiting, as set out in this Prize List.
12. Exhibitors are required to have a membership to compete. Memberships for 2022 are $3
13. In the case of an error made in the totalling of Prize money, a complaint must be registered in writing within fourteen (14) days of receiving the cash or cheque.
16. In the event that receipts are insufficient to cover the full amount of prizes, the Society reserves the right to pay on a percentage basis.
16. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor or with limited help if the exhibitor is a child.
17. Exhibits are not available for purchase during the Exhibition.
18. Exhibitors under the age of 18 years may compete in the Adult Classes, but must follow the Adult Rules and Regulations.
Prize winners’ cheques must be cashed within 60 days of the date on the cheque.
If a question arises which is not answered in the rules and regulations, please contact the Director of the Class involved. All protests must be submitted in writing and will be investigated by the Committee in charge of the Department in which the protest is entered. They will report to the Homecraft Directors at a regularly called meeting. The decision of the Board will be final and will be binding upon the parties of such protest.

CULINARY ARTS (FOODS)

NOTES:
1. All Culinary Arts exhibits must be baked by, and in the home of, the person exhibiting. NO COMMERCIAL MIXES are allowed unless specifically stated. ALL BAKED GOODS TO BE COVERED WITH A CLEAR SEALABLE BAG ON A PLATE OR BOARD WHEN BRINGING EXHIBITS IN.
2. The committee reserves the right to dispose of food no longer fit for human consumption during the course of the Exhibition.
3. Whenever a RECIPE is requested, it may be printed, written or typed on one side only of a card or paper between 7.5 x 12.5 cm and 14 x 21.5 cm.
4. Exhibitors are allowed only ONE exhibit in each section. Exhibit the entry, where appropriate, on a small disposable plate.
5. Exhibitors must present their membership card to the director in charge before removing exhibits.
6. NO ‘FOR SALE’ SIGNS OR ADVERTISING ARE ALLOWED ON ANY EXHIBIT.
7. The NEW EXHIBITOR with the most points in Classes 35 to 40 will receive a special prize. Please put “New Exhibitor” on each tag.
8. OAAS BUTTER TART COMPETITION
Fair/Exhibition Competition:
1. Entry must be made solely by the person entering competition (including pastry)
2. Competition open to all exhibitors
3. Number of butter tarts to be shown at local Fair/Exhibition to be determined by each individual Fair/Exhibition
DISTRICT COMPETITION:
4. The entrant must have won 1st prize in the butter tart competition at the local Fair/Exhibition to be eligible to enter the District Competition.
5. The size of the tarts must be full size tarts (no mini or bite size tarts).
6. A total of 6 tarts will be required to be shown.
7. There are to be NO raisins or nuts.
8. Tarts must be on a clean paper plate inside a sealable clear plastic bag.
9. Prize money to be paid by the District.
PROVINCIAL COMPETITION:
1. The entrant must have won 1st prize in the District Competition to be eligible to enter the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Competition at the annual convention in February.
2. In the case where the District winner is unable to send an entry to the convention then the 2nd prize district winner will be eligible to enter.

CLASS 41 – QUILTS

GENERAL CONDITIONS – Please read carefully.
NEW WORK, which may be shown in two consecutive years, must be hand quilted except where specifically noted. The quilt may be a single bed size or larger. The entry tag and anything that is attached to the quilt must be done with safety pins. No straight pins.
ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES (OAAS) QUILT COMPETITIONS
If you wish your Hand OR Machine quilt to qualify for the OAAS Quilt Competition, it must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter. Note that the article can be square, rectangular, etc. The name of the quilt pattern and the name of the designer, if the pattern was purchased, must be written on the tag that is attached to the quilt. The Grand Champion quilts chosen from the winners of Sections 1, 2 and 13 are eligible to compete at the District 4 competition in late October. The first prize winner from another fair is not eligible.
A. Entries must be solely made and hand or machine quilted by an individual and exhibited and judged at a local OAAS Fair to be eligible for this competition.
B. Qualified quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter. Smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition.
C. Judging will occur first at local fairs and then at district level meeting. A Provincial Grand Champion quilt will be selected at the Annual Convention of the OAAS.
D. Upon making entry into the OAAS Hand or Machine Quilt Competition, the exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
E. The winning OAAS Champion Hand or Machine Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future District and/or Convention OAAS competitions.
F. The winner’s name will be displayed at the Exhibition on a sign provided by the OAAS.

The exhibitor’s name and address, together with the class and section in which the exhibit is to be entered, is to be printed on the back of each exhibit. Any identifying signature or trademark on the front of the exhibit must be covered before being entered. No exhibits are to be entered in more than one class. All exhibits must be taken by the exhibitor and not have been previously exhibited at the Peterborough Exhibition. Frames are not permitted. Exhibits are to be suitably mounted on material BLACK CARD STOCK OR BRISTOL BOARD in order to be held in place with push pins or they will be disqualified. Black and white photographs should have a glossy finish for more impact. Each entry must have an entry tag attached directly to the mounting prior to arrival at the designated building. Entry tags are to be picked up at the office prior to the Exhibition.
